A Brief History of String Theory: From Dual Models to M-Theory by Dean Rickles
English | PDF,EPUB | 2014 | 265 Pages | ISBN : 3642451276 | 10.66 MB
During its forty year lifespan, string theory has always had the power to divide, being called both a ‘theory of everything’ and a ‘theory of nothing’. Critics have even questioned whether it qualifies as a scientific theory at all. This book adopts an objective stance, standing back from the question of the truth or falsity of string theory and instead focusing on how it came to be and how it came to occupy its present position in physics. An unexpectedly rich history is revealed, with deep connections to our most well-established physical theories. Fully self-contained and written in a lively fashion, the book will appeal to a wide variety of readers from novice to specialist.
Evaluation of performance of selected tillage tines regarding quality of work by Amer Khalid Ahmed Al-Neama
English | PDF | 2018 (2019 Edition) | 115 Pages | ISBN : 3662577437 | 7.9 MB
This book examines and evaluates the performance of four standard chisel plough tines: heavy duty, double heart, double heart with wings and duck foot, which were connected with a rigid shank. Experiments were conducted in a soil bin filled with sandy loamy soil, and the experimental factors included varying operation conditions (speed and depth) and their dependency upon a draft force and their components (horizontal and vertical force), specific force (force per unit area), specific power (power per unit area), soil loosening percentage (above and below the original soil surface) and soil profile parameters (e.g. furrow height, furrow width, ridge height, area of ridge and furrow etc.). The evaluation involved developing regression equations based on Glancey and Upadhyaya’s model by adding new terms related to the tine geometric parameters or by adding a dummy term variable.
Clinical Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: A Comprehensive Atlas, Second Edition by Hoon Jai Chun
English | PDF | 2018 | 748 Pages | ISBN : 9811049947 | 214.76 MB
The second edition of this very popular atlas is designed to serve as an up-to-date guide to the diagnostic use of gastrointestinal endoscopy that will meet the daily needs of both novice and advanced endoscopists. The atlas presents an abundance of typical and atypical endoscopic images of common and rare diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colorectum, accompanied by precise clinical descriptions.
Watermarking Techniques for Copyright Protection of Videos by Ashish M. Kothari
English | PDF | 2018 (2019 Edition) | 128 Pages | ISBN : 3319928368 | 9.44 MB
The book provides copyright protection approaches for videos using watermarking. The various watermarking techniques using various transforms such as discrete cosine transform (DCT), discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) for videos are presented. The book also provides video watermarking approach using compressive sensing (CS) theory. The presented watermarking techniques are designed and implemented using color digital videos. The performance of the presented techniques is evaluated using Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Normalized Correlation (NC).
Special Type of Finger Replantation: Techniques and Cases by Jian Lin
English | PDF | 2018 | 255 Pages | ISBN : 9811062285 | 38.10 MB
This book discusses the management of serious finger damage, which can have lifelong consequences for patients without timely and effective replantation treatment to restore the function of the hand. Featuring more than 30 cases and over 420 clinical surgical photographs, it combines systematic with thematic approaches, basic theory with clinical practice, and images with text descriptions.
CABology: Value of Cloud, Analytics and Big Data Trio Wave by Nitin Upadhyay
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 161 Pages | ISBN : 9811086745 | 5.98 MB
This uniquely accessible book helps readers use CABology to solve real-world business problems and drive real competitive advantage. It provides reliable, concise information on the real benefits, usage and operationalization aspects of utilizing the “Trio Wave” of cloud, analytic and big data. Anyone who thinks that the game changing technology is slow paced needs to think again. This book opens readers’ eyes to the fact that the dynamics of global technology and business are changing. Moreover, it argues that businesses must transform themselves in alignment with the Trio Wave if they want to survive and excel in the future.

This book introduces materials and how advances in materials result in advances in technology and our daily lives. Each chapter covers a particular material, how the material was discovered or invented, when it was first used, how this material has impacted the world, what makes the material important, how it is used today, and future applications. The list of materials covered in this book includes stone, wood, natural fibers, metals, clay, lead, iron, steel, silicon, glass, rubber, composites, polyethylene, rare earth magnet, and alloys.
Generalized Stochastic Processes: Modelling and Applications of Noise Processes by Stefan Schäffler
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 190 Pages | ISBN : 3319787675 | 11.46 MB
This textbook shall serve a double purpose: first of all, it is a book about generalized stochastic processes, a very important but highly neglected part of probability theory which plays an outstanding role in noise modelling. Secondly, this textbook is a guide to noise modelling for mathematicians and engineers to foster the interdisciplinary discussion between mathematicians (to provide effective noise models) and engineers (to be familiar with the mathematical backround of noise modelling in order to handle noise models in an optimal way). Two appendices on “A Short Course in Probability Theory” and “Spectral Theory of Stochastic Processes” plus a well-choosen set of problems and solutions round this compact textbook off.
